Significance of Remote Sensing and GIS.

 A]   What is meant by Remote Sensing? Remote Sensing is a process of collecting information of an object with the help of Electromagnetic Radiation from a particular distance in space, without being in direct physical contact with the object. The information is recorded by various sensors attached to the platforms established at great distance in space. These sensors record the reflected and radiated electromagnetic energy from various features on the Earth's surface. Further, the recorded information is used to form images and maps. For a remote sensing system to work, sensors, cameras, platforms, etc. are required in order to collect, transmit and analyze the recorded data.
